ABOUT
Sohrab has been the International Monetary Fund’s Resident Representative in PNG since 2023, when the IMF and the PNG Government agreed to an US$918 million Extended Credit Facility and Extended Fund Facility.
He is a British National and was previously a Senior Economist in the IMF’s Asia and Pacific Department. He has extensive experience in IMF operations, having previously covered frontier, emerging and advanced countries in the Asia and Pacific region.
Sohrab has also worked on several IMF-supported program countries during his IMF career.
Before joining the IMF, he worked at the European Central Bank and the Government of Malaysia’s Sovereign Wealth Fund. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics and Econometrics and has published numerous peer-review journal articles in the areas of macro-financial economics.
