Dr Amit Chanan is the Chief Investment Officer at the Australian Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific (AIFFP).
Dr Amit is a senior executive with 25 years’ experience leading major infrastructure investments, strategic reform and large‑scale program delivery across Australia, the Pacific and emerging global economies.
His experience spans senior leadership of large public service organisations, comprehensive financial and risk oversight of infrastructure investments, and the successful delivery of complex programs through collaborative partnerships. He is a strategic leader, and his career highlights include:
- leading global infrastructure investment assessments for large‑scale water and wastewater projects across India, South Africa, Brazil, Indonesia, Uzbekistan and the Philippines.
- working closely with Pacific development partners and utilities, bringing deep regional relationships and a practical understanding of investment needs, delivery constraints, and political context.
- leading Fiji’s first National Water Sector Strategy 2050, an $8.5 billion investment roadmap that strengthened sector governance, financial sustainability and long‑term service resilience.
- overseeing major program delivery, including the City of Sydney’s $13 billion Green Square Urban Redevelopment, requiring complex procurement and coordinated delivery across government, private sector and community stakeholders.
